What is a "safe corridor"? Foreigners will walk from the station to the Taj along a special path lined with police and Macdonalds and Dominos restaurants? It's a long walk.

Which station - Agra Cantonment of Agra Fort? As the Ministry of Aviation is involved they will be ferried by hang-glider. And don't forget Starbucks.

Modi has to fill the war chest for the next elections, and knowing how elections are funded in TN, instead of the Golden Arches et all it will be wine shops[ for the Foreigners of course] at inflated prices

I don't think there is any restriction of coming out of the complex with in 3 hours. The 3 hours restriction should be for entry from the time one purchases the ticket according to me.

That is old news.

Quote:
"We thought capping the number of tourists per day was not a viable option, but we had to do something. The hike in prices is not to generate revenue, but to ensure that only people who are genuinely interested enter the area," the minister said.
From the link given in my earlier post.

"Tourists who stay inside the monument longer than three hours will have to pay the entry fee once again."

"all tickets will be bar coded, allowing ASI authorities to ascertain the duration for which the tourists stay inside the premises"

"similar crowd control initiatives have also been planned for other popular tourist destinations like the Red Fort and Qutub Minar"

"Meanwhile, to put an end to the ‘lapka’ culture in Agra, where touts fleece or harass foreign tourists, the government said it’s considering making it a cognisable offence."

So the price is 1250RS now?

Having read previous pages - yes the price differential is extreme compared to local price but on an international scale 20+ USD is a bargain.
Here in Singapore $20 doesn't get you anything worthwhile unless you step into the realm of street food and subsidized union run supermarkets...

That said I'm not sure if I like the distinction between foreigner and local - I'd actually want to visit and be as nondescript as possible but my "Katrina Kaif" hairdo is sure to draw attention anyway :P
