Taj Mahal Closing Inside????

I heard this week for someone that the government was closing the inside of the Taj Mahal. I know what they discussed this back in 1998 but have not heard anything else until now.

Can anyone tell me if there is any truth to this rumor?

Thanks I was undecided which one to post in and decided on the first. Agra was my second choice though.

Hmm, a trip is on cards to Taj Mahal for me too in March, so wondering if this is true?

Tourists haven't been allowed down into the actual crypt for some time, can this be what they meant?

No I mentioned that but was told that the entire inside would now be closed. Hope this is just a rumor.

Hiya...

Was in Agra two weeks back...
And the insides of the Taj Mahal (excuse the language...!) are just as they always have been...
Beautiful...

(The staircase leading to the actual tombs of Mumtaz Mahal though have remain closed for a long time now)

And yes, there is always a possibility of such a plan being implemented as it does tend to get overcrowded on weekends...
