Taj Mahal- any chance on booking tickets online or some agency ?
Hey everybody,
I am traveling with a friend in January to Agra We just noticed that according to our plan we are supposed to visit Agra and the Taj on Friday 25th Jan....it is closed then so we changed to be there on Sat. 26th..which gives us another problem. We read in the Lonely Planet that one should book tickets 24 h in advance- but they do not work on Friday..does anybody know if the ticket boots are at least open or if we can book somehow online... HELP Thanky for your input in advance |

I don't think you need to book them in advance..no..I am sure you are not supposed to do that...just go there get your ticket, you might have to be in que for 30-60 minutes depending on the rush and thats it...

no, not the moonlight viewing as we will not be there on the full moon date, which is the 22nd. We are wondering about day tickets to the Taj..as we cannot buy them on Friday (the Taj is closed), and would be there only for the Saturday, we cannot buy the tickets as it is required 24 h in advance at the standard ticket booth...
any idea if we can buy them online or you know some agency? and I am a she, not a he ![]() |

Does your LP guide say you should buy entrance tickets for the Taj 24 hrs. in advance? That's not mentioned in my copy. Anyway, just show up, get in que (if there is any) and buy your ticket. That's how I did it (2 years ago, but don't think things have changed).
Enjoy! |

Other than to avoid a line there wouldn't be much purpose to advance purchase tickets. Its not like its a theme park ride. You just walk around the building, say ooh and ah, and that is it. They don't let you go downstairs anymore and never officially let you into the overhead alcove so there isn't all that much to see. My last trip there wasn't even a line. They just confiscated a bag of chips and ignored all the rest I brought with me. Share the snacks I say. Don't miss Fatehpur Sikri..
