New Delhi - Agra

I'm interested in booking a trip on the New Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi Express train (I think it's train number 2002, that leaves New Delhi toward 6:00 AM and arrives into Agra Cantt at ca. 7:55 AM.

When I got to Indian Railways' website and attempt to make a reservation, it doesn't seem to allow me to execute a booking on account of the fact that I don't live in India.

Washington, DC isn't one of the drop-down options. Is there a website where international guests can book travel on the trains?

Thanks,
Jim

Select e-ticket, not i-ticket. No delivery address needed for e-tickets.

Hi Dom,

I'm planning on leaving for India on either 01-July or 02-July.

I'll be on a Continental Airlines flight.

How about yourself?

I'm planning to spend a few days in Delhi, a couple in Agra and a few more in Jaipur before flying to Dubai, Middle East and Northern Africa.

Jim

Delhi- Agra

Took the Shatabdi express - train ride was fine in first class. They served a meal also. However, the train was late on both ends - 3 hours on the way back to Delhi - I got in at 1 am , alone - had about 20 taxi drivers trying to get my fare back to the hotel - was a little alarming as a single woman bc two started a fist fight in front of me - yikes! The restrooms in the stations and on the train are definitely an adjustment; there was so much flooding around the one in the station that I could not use it or I'd have been soaked for the train ride home. One of the best memories I have is hearing the tea man yelling "Chai, Chai" every 18 seconds for 3 hours while I waited for the train! I know that sounds crazy, but it was almost like a chant/meditation after a very long, hot day in Agra. It was worth every minute and I met some lovely people on the train - a lovely couple and their daughter really stand out in my mind. And the Taj is worth it all - will make you cry, it is exquisite. Namaste.

mopsyj,
Thank you for your information. Would you kindly tell me where you stayed in Delhi and Agra, and what was the approximate cost.
I am going there with the family (with two kids).
It will be nice to get proper accomodation (with western toilet).
Do you know if they have western toilets on all AC1, AC2 and AC3 trains?
Thanks
dom
