Is Mathura worth a visit ?
Hi
I shall be in Agra for a day and a half in October. I am on a tight schedule but I hope to see the Taj, the baby Taj, Agra Fort, Akbar's tomb, Fatepur Sikri as well as doing some souvenir shopping. However I hear that Mathura is worth a visit as there are some great temples there as well as some ghats by the river. It has been described to me like a small version of Varanasi. Can anybody advise if they think it is worth a visit and if so which of the other above items should I miss out on. thanks |

Vrindavan, 10 km from Mathura is worth a visit, but you can skip Mathura itself on a tight schedule. Vrindavan is where the temples are. Krishna's birthplace is in Mathura, not really worth a visit except for devout Hindus.
Check out the Vrindavan threads with the search function. |
