Is Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary worth visiting?
We are going to spend 3 days of the first week of October in Agra. It has been suggested to us that we spend a day touring:
Bahartpur Bird Santuary Fatehpur Sikri Taj moonlightHow far is Bahartpur Bird Santuary from Agra (presumably west)? We know Fatehpur Sikri is 40 km west of Agra. Is Fatehpur Sikri Taj moonlight worth it? Is the above agenda doable? Thanks! |

Bharatpur is approximately one hour by car from Fatehpur Sikri. I'm not sure how many migratory birds will be there in Oct. Check out how the monsoon has been there this year.
We went there this March and it will be an understatement if I say that we liked it very much. Definitely it's worth visit. The ambience there is absolutely splendid. |

That time of the year would not be right to visit Bharatpur. An alternate place could be Deeg Palace.
Fatehpur Sikri and Taj at night should not be missed if you get a chance. |

We visited at the end of March this year. According to everything I'd read we should have visited early in the morning but we didn't make it there until after 10am. We thought a couple of hours would be enough but we left at 6pm. Arguably we should have stayed for at least another hour but we were too tired. Here's what I wrote at the time. Here's some photos I took. I never quite understand when is the best time to go. From everything I'd read, going at the end of March and during the hottest spell of a hot day should have meant that we would see nothing. We saw loads and had a fantastic time and Bharatpur sticks in my memory of one of the highlights of the trip. I'm sure of course that had we gone earlier in the day or at a better time of year we'd have see lots more, but for me, I was happy.
