How to get to the Taj from Delhi?

Hello there. I've heard there is a train that goes from delhi to agra-- does anyone have a timetable for it? how many days do you have to book in advance to get a seat on the train, or is it possible to just show up and get one at the station? does anyone know what time the trains leave from and going back to delhi...?

Shatabdi (Delhi Agra)

The train is called Agra shatabdi express - leaves Delhi at 7 am and reachess Agra in 2 hours, fully air con. Yes - you need to buy tickets in advance, but it is really comfortable adn quick, plus you are served b'fast tea etc (the fare includes it)

teh other option is to hire an indica for the day and g to Agra and return a day later. Whatever way you choose, I recommend air con since it wud be terribly hot and you don't want to spend teh journey cursing!

Smile The station closest to Taj

The station closer to the Taj mahal is Agra Contonment. The next one (Raja ki mandi) is closer to Holiday inn hotel.

When coming from Delhi via the morning Shatabdi, these are the 2 stns of Agra you will encounter.

jabber is correct. I used BHOPAL SHATABDI and returned by TAJ EXPRESS. Please ...please...do not use TAJ EXPRESS. This is worst scene in train travel. This is not a SHATABDTI train but A/C coach in a slow moving train. It takes more than 3 hrs to reach DELHI.

IMPOrtANT:This is high rush sector-get your ticket booked as soon as you finalize your plans. If you think that you can get ticket from station....i think ..very few chances that you will get a seat !
