I never stay for less than five days . . . whether on the grounds of the Taj, seeing it from the Prisoner's Tower of Agra Fort, from across the Yamuna, or from my rooftop perch at the Shanti Lodge . . . (though I do understand there are people who can do it quicker

It will depend what time it opens, it's supposed to be open at sunrise I think, which is about 6am at the moment. When we arrived at around 9am there were are hour long queues, by the time we left at 11am they were several hours long.

How far is your hotel from the Taj Mahal? IF you can get there before six, and IF it does open at six, and IF the queues are not long at that time of day, then yes you might have plenty of time to catch your train. But traffic is awful and it will still be very tight!

Your question though is "Am I rushing it?" To which the answer is a definite "Yes"

If I'm reading this correctly, you want to get in at opening time and be on a 10:05AM train from Fort on the same morning then it's out of the question.

Sheela is close to the Taj. Go there when it opens.... give 2 hours come back checkout and proceed to the Railway Station. Prebook Auto/Taxi for Rly. Station commute.

I'd say it's doable. We arrived at just before 6:30am, the queues were small so we got it fairly quickly. We left after a couple of hours and felt like we'd had a nice leisurely wander around.

So at 08:00/8:30 you can go back to your hotel, check out and straight to the station.

Depends really but Yes. If it's mid June then two hours might do, if it's January, then Yamuna's veil may shroud the whole area in water vapour and you won't see anything and will have to leave for the train even earlier, which will probably be delayed, so you could have stayed at the Taj longer. You know there's not much slack for the unexpected, you might really love it and..

Hi, I'd love your opinion on my intinery in Agra, which I'm going to in early December.

We plan to drive from DElhi to Agra, visit Taj Mahal and Agra Fort in one day. Spending night in Agra and departing for Jaipur next morning.

Is there sufficient time to come to Agra, see Taj and Fort in one day? How long did it take for you guys to see Taj and see Fort each?

It's do able !! I'd say get in line before 6 AM - in by say 6:30.
A good 2 hours spent - out by 8:30 - catch a tuk tuk / rickshaw - its 15 minutes from the Taj to the Fort station

BUT one thing - make sure you exit the Taj from the side where it comes out to the Fort Side. quicker and shorter route to the station.

Not the other 2 sides, else it will take only longer.
