Hotel Taj Plaza in Agra, any one stayed there?
I am wondering if any one has stayed at the Hotel Taj Plaza in Agra recently. It is a good price and looks as though it is close to the Taj, even has a view. The Sheela was our first choice but seems to have some really bad reviews about being very dirty.
We are on a budget so the Oberoi and such is out of reach. I have checked on Trip advisor but the reviews are all over the place so any advice would be most appreciated, thank you. |

Travelling 55 I am also looking to find a decent budget hotel in Agra. The reviews on Tripadvisor are frightening, full of encounters with bed bugs, worms in the bath tub, nasty staff, filthy bedding, cold showers... Each place seems to be a no go-er!!
The hotels that get good reviews on India Mike, get really mixed reviews on Tripadvisor, mostly terrible ones! As for your query about Hotel Taj Plaza, yes, I stayed there with my Indian boyfriend two years ago. We had an awful experience. I don't want to go in to details, but if you read the 3rd review (by Tkranthi) you will see what I mean, something even worse happened to us at this dodgy hotel: http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Rev...r_Pradesh.html Surely, someone knows of reliable accommodation that has clean sheets, and a decent hot shower! Please?? |

Thanks for the tip Ali, but we are looking for budget accommodation. I'm sure it is easy to find great rooms like the Gateway if one can afford to travel in style... The challenge is to find one on a tight budget... :-)

Dear Bonded. Please look at the awful reviews on Tripadvisor for both Sheela and Sheela Inn. Nearly everyone is saying dirty sheets and no hot water at all!!! I'm at wits end about where to stay in Agra.

Agra Hotels
Yes it is very frustrating as you say that the reviews are great on one site and horrible on another. Or even both great and horrible on the same site. I know that with Tripadvisor you need to take the reviews with a grain of salt, some people will complain about anything!. I just want a clean safe place close to the Taj.

Hotel Sheela Saniya Palace Hotel Sidhartha Hotel Taj Plaza Hotel Kamal Sheela Inn |
