For catching any train to Agra, you will have to travel to either Nizamuddin railway station or New Delhi railway station.
As per me, catch Bhopal Shatabdi from New Delhi rlwy stn at 6:15 a.m.,which reaches Agra at 8:12 a.m. To come back, take New Delhi Shatabdi from Agra at 20:25, which reaches New Delhi at 22:30. You will have ample of time to visit Taj Mahal and other places If you want to make it economical, take any train available, but it will take a little longer and cut down on the time you could have spent in Agra.

Sounds nice, yet the problem is I still cannot find any train departure from New Delhi to Agra City, I mean, Delhi and Agra are both have several train stations, from which one to which one is the most correct? thanks again!

isnt car a better option?
hello dow,
instead of going to the railway station in a cab, taking a train and then again taking a cab/ rickshaw in agra, why not hire a cab from gurgaon itself. there is an alternate route from sohna for agra. that shortens the journey by atleast 10-15 kms. or you can take the newer route from gurgaon to faridabad and take the main highway. both the routes listed above are not so commonly known to general public, but cab drivers know. or you can take the main route from shooting range... all have less traffic during off peak timings... try it. it will ease your journey. thanks. |

would you be going alone???

if you will take a smaller car, it will cost you around Rs. 5- 6 per kilometer and if you are opting for better car, it might come around 7-10 Rs. a kilometer. So, a round trip should be somewhere around 1500- 2K INR for a day... of course, check with the local operators, and please do not ask ANYBODY here to give you the details... Moderators will delete any account trying to help someone or advice somebody as per their experiences... lol. thanks. Last edited by mysoulstillwandering : Jul 3rd, 2009 at 19:02. mysoulstillwandering,
Thanks for allowing me to make this comment: Please do be careful when asking for recommendations for car hire companies (or any other service). We do our best to make sure that commercial posters and advertisers are weeded out, but they are very persistent. We particularly encourage people to report Private Messages offering holiday services. It's perfectly fine for established IndiaMike members to recommend a company. Advertisers get their accounts closed. Anyone with questions about moderation should use the contact us button at the bottom of the screen.

Hi Dow and mysoulstillwandering,
Delhi-Agra is around 225 Kms. so round trip is 450 KMs. So at Rs. 5 per KM (You'll be lucky to get that rate)it will be Rs. 2250 add Toll Charges and Temporary Permit fee for entering UP. A taxi in my opinion will not be less than Rs. 3000 for this trip. And the fuel prices have been hiked just 2 days before, I think Taxi operators will use this excuse to once again backup prices. At Agra Cantt station, there is a pre paid taxi stand and they offer you a Shatabdi-Shatabdi tour, where they pick you up from Delhi-Bhopal Shatabdi and after a day's siteseeing once again drop you at returning Shatabdi.
