From Delhi to Agra in one day

My wife and I just did this trip last Saturday. We were staying in Delhi at a local hotel (Marina). We only wanted to do a day trip as we needed to leave the next day. We booked a tour on-line through Informative Travels http://www.indiatraveltours.com/agra%20day%20trip.htm and had a great day. The cost was $68 USD per person which may sound high, but we had friends who tried to do the same thing and spent $100 USD through a hotel and travel agency and got much less (also they had to do some of the arrangements). We had door to door service the entire day and it was great! If you can do this, ask for Jasbal in Delhi as your cab driver, then Atar as your taxi driver in Agar with guides Bonti and Pablo (nicknames for each guide). They are all very good. Here is the itenary (I can give more details if desired). We really recommend this trip.

1. All services will be private. All pickup, drop off, transportation, sightseeing, guide will exclusively be for you.

2. The tour can be reserved anytime. Least 10 days before is ample time to reserve.

3. Trip is availble except Friday.

4. Cost: USD 68 per person (minimum traveling guests - 02

5. Cost includes:

- All pickup and drop off by air conditioned transport.
- Air conditioned chair class train tickets in super fast
train known as Shatabdi Express.
- Sightseeing of Taj Mahal, Agra Fort & Fathpur Sikri by
air conditioned transport.
- Services of Govt. approved English speaking guide.
- All meals (breakfast & dinner on board, lunch at 5 star hotel (Taj View)).
- All applicable taxes.

6. Reservation details:

- Name & age, female/male of the guests.
- Date of arrival in Delhi
- Place to stay in Delhi (full address & contact numbers).
- Date of travel.

Outline of tour program goes as below :
Tour starts with pickup from your place in Delhi (about 5am) & followed
by transfer to station to board the train to Agra.Meet & Greet
at Agra station. After freshen up, sightseeing of Taj Mahal,
Agra Fort & Fathpur Sikri.Lunch will be at five star hotel Taj View.
Evening we will drop you at Agra station (about 11pm). Our representative will be
at Delhi station to provide you transfer to your place in Delhi.

Hi Grimes,
I am arriving at 2nd Feb. 2008 in Delhi, stay at the Hotel Marina
G-59, Connaught Circus, New Delhi and would like to make the same tour you did at the 3rd Feb.

My questions:
minimum 2 people, does it mean I have to find someone else or do they collect all applicants?
Should I pay in Euros, USD or INR?

trip

My wife and I went so we did not have a minimum problem. I would suggest you contact them directly. Their email is Informative Travels [info@indiatraveltours.com]. I had very good luck with communicating via email.

grimes

that sounds like a relatively hassle free way to see the taj. and 68USD doesn't seem too excessive (well, at least to me ) for the convenience.

just one thing - when you say 'after freshen up' i am trying to imagine the facilities you used!

Freshen up

I don't remember which part was the freshen up part, but I can tell you it was a very high class day. Our lunch (huge buffet)was at a 4-5 star hotel. If I remember the freshen up was a time to relax at a 5 star hotel. We changed things just a bit at the end of the day as we were getting tired. One thing to be ready for is the suggestion of stopping at some craft shops. We don't normally do this, but we did do one to a place that does the inlays. I did end up spending a bit of money on a plate but it really reminds me of all the inlay gem work on the Taj. I am not sure if you can get the same driver we had, but they might have a record if you reference our trip. He was great!

Did you feel rushed?

Hi Grimes,

Quick question - did you feel rushed on your tour of the TAJ and the other areas?

Did you leave for Delhi at 11 or did you arrive in Delhi at 11?

We are seriously considering this, so thanks for the info.

Hi,

I too have taken this tour a week back along with my friend. It was really well organized from start to finish. Very punctual and enjoyable. Value for money spent for sure. I highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in taking a day trip to Agra. Perhaps the only negative things I can say (insignificant compared to the positives) are that the train tickets were Waitlisted ones, hence forcing us to find empty seats and grab them and secondly my name was spelt wrongly on the card at Agra. Overall I really enjoyed the trip and the negative points mentioned above are only for the sake of giving a complete review.

Agra restaurant name

Grimes,
What was the name of the restaurant, that you ate in Agra?
How was the food and service at the restaurant?
How far is this restaurant from the Taj Mahal?
Thanks
