Delhi to Agra by train or car

Any recommendations as to whether we should take the Shatabdi Express or hire a private car from Delhi to Agra (and back again the same day)? How much would a private car cost us? This would be the only time we would ride a train while in India. Thanks in advance!

I will suggest to go by CAR. Northern Rail (NR) is no reliable , recently faced issue that for 2 ticket/PNR they assigned same Set of seat. When sent email to CCR , AGM , GM etc of NR they never replied even after 16 reminder.( Not sure NR railways authority know, how to check EMAIL :-) ).

So better go by CAR. Private car usually cost 6-10/KM depend on AC or non-AC

undoubtedly train.best to travel by shatabthi.you can easily return in same day.in my experience and experience of many others known to me it has been hassle free.

The Shatabdi or Taj express is the way to go!
