Best one day Agra itinerary and prices?

Ok, so i have plumped for the one day in Agra trip. Getting the train from Delhi 6.15am and coming back 8.15pm. So, how would i maximize my visit? Should i go straight to the Taj and then Fort or Fort then Taj? How much will a rickshaw be all day?(not been to India for 6 years so not up on prices)How much would a guide cost at the Fort and Taj? etc, etc. What other hidden gems are in Agra?

Fatehpur Sikri i will have to do on another trip to India

I have the same question, anyone? I will be arriving in morning and have a night train at 9pm from Bharatpur to Udaipur. Wondering if I will be able to stay in Agra long enough to watch sunset at Taj and then move on to Bharatpur?

Thanks!

In your situation I would get a car from Delhi, have him tour you all day and return. This way you avoid the hassle with the Rickshaws, and you have a save place to withdraw into when thronged by junk-sellers, beggars and all.

You don't need a guide at either the Taj or the Fort. Your guide book should tell you everything you need to know.

Just take a pre-paid taxi from the station to as close to the Taj as you can get (motor vehicles are prohibited from getting too close) - I think I paid about Rs.90 last year. Then take a rickshaw (or walk) to the Fort - it's pretty close. Finally, I'd take a rickshaw across the river to see the Taj from the other side at sunset. And, of course, find time for something to eat - best bet is one of the rooftop cafes in the old part of town.

There's no need to stress about anything. It's all really easy to arrange as you go along. And the train is definitely the most comfortable and fastest way to get to Agra from Delhi.
