Agra trip

We visited agra on 6 mar friday .Taj closed on fri so we went on cycle tour near Taj and they took us on near govt building for great view at 18.30 pm.
for me agra was bit disappointed. Not been look after properly and even in Taj not been looked after for repairs and cleaning.
Found PRAkash hotel near taj .stayed there .Two rooms got taj view and good Taj view from roof top so that was one plus point . veg food in gmb was very good.
Other then Taj was more harrassed more everywhere in agra.
One thing most annoying was train stoped outside station for 5 min and that bit was very bad smelly and people sitting doing toilet facing trains not very good for agras image.

I can understand people doing toilet near station but can not understand dirty water and old fort looking mostly ruins destoryed in floods behind taj .We had amazing guide from incredible india and he told me some story not worth writing here.
They charge 750 from us so i hope they do look after in good way for long time. what guide told me was not nice .even in Taj people writing on wall that day no one there to stop .
If its good tourist place they have to find ways to do something .
Delhiwala we stayed in paharganj was better then this .

Living standards in India have improved in India, however still some people live in so abject poverty that they don't have access to Toilets...... But nature's call can't wait......

And yes, my heart weeps too when I see people senselessly defacing our monuments. Infact the Government of India is now a days running an educational campaign against these things.

And I don't know what your guide told you about the dirty water. If you can't post here, pl. PM me (If you have some spare time). I would to know what they are telling westerners.

Just interested, are you saying you weren't harrassed very much around the Taj?

Also, your guide, how did you get him? Got an email address?

If there is security in Taj why they do not stop people writing on wall or even challenge them. Just throw them out from Taj or do something which will stop this things.Or big fine notice might ditter them for cleaning charge who get caught on cctv? I think they will make money out of charges and stop some others.

Jaws: you are right about dirty water and lack of basic facilities. I am an Indian in US for over 20 years now. Why doesn't India employ the idle and available manpower in building infra is beyond me - that would generate employment as well as infra which in turn will lead to more tourism, more economic activity and so on. I was in Shanghai twice last year and the difference between China and India was startling. No flaming please - just a suggestion.

We have become a nation of selfish people. Politicos want their own upliftment, PWD engineers want to build their villas rather than roads......General public has apathy towards all....

Votes are still polled on the basis of Castes......

Only a miracle can save India......

I agree with you Delhiwala but when you got such nice building and money they need some strong public power or big fame to keep it going. I really have no idea who will use money properly given by japan to clean agra. or big Sorry if already been cleaned.
I think govt should do something to tackle these.
