AGRA Sight Seeing in 7 hours
Hi,
We will arrive Agra Cantt Railway Station at 8.30 AM some time in 1st week of April. Expect another 30 minutes to Store our Luggage in Cloakroom on Platform No. 1. My question is can some one suggest an iterinary starting from 9.00 AM to 4.00 PM. Visit Taj-Mahal, Agra-Fort, etc. We have no problem travelling with auto-rickshaws. Has anyone taken a lunch at Taj View Hotel? What is approximate costs per person for lunch at this place? We have to catch our onward train at 5.30 PM same day. We welcome suggestions from every one. Thanks, Ciao,,,.... |

Well, you mentioned the highlights. In order to enjoy it all, I would not add any more highlights (if any). Take three hours for the Taj, Two for the Red Fort and the rest for lunch and travelling.
Enjoy, Hans

i dont think Fatehpur Sikri should be missed out either...given that you are pretty much there , maybe reduce the time at the Taj and Agra fort a bit ...

i found these agra quickies really silly, a relict of older times when agra was a bit less organized and a more troubled place than now. i arrive a month ago to agra with an idea to see everything in a day. i ended staying 2 full days plus some extra time on a third day, coursing how silly i was to listen all these stories. it's worth at least of 3 days of good exploration with no rush.

I'd go to the Taj, spend 2-3 hours there, pass on the Agra fort (it's not one of the better forts in India) and get a taxi to take you to/from Fatephur Sikri.
Cheers Zoltan

Fatepur Sikri is:
1. Needing to allow at least hour away from Agra, each way, for travel time from Agra. 2. Takes at least half a day to see with ay kind of appreciation dhans has it right, IMHO. go to the TaJ and the Fort- that's a full day if you include lunch. Don't worry, you'll be sufficiently busy with those two Indian landmarks.

I agree with bijapur. Altho Fatehpur Sikri looks close on a map, you need to allow some time to get there and back. My travel mate and I kept playing "are we there yet?" on the ride out to FS from Agra
I think your itinerary would be too hectic with the addition of FS to the rest of the sights you want to see.have fun! C |
