Shop around & bargain hard for transportation. 'Emporium stops' are the key intangible in your taxi negotiations. The ultimate deal is getting the lowest rate possible with a verbal agreement for no forced emporium stops. Time is valuable, especially if doing FS & Agra in one daylight jaunt. Enjoy!
We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time. ~

Kobe20,
I wish I could give you an answer, but I can't. In Agra, everything is much more expensive than it is anywhere else. Bargain hard, and see what you can do. A taxi, though, is a fairly expensive way to travel. With waiting charges, tip, etc., you're probably looking at several hundred rupees, at least.

We rented a taxi with guide , for 2 people, from Taj to fatephur S. and back to agra railway.
With lunch and waiting time, it cost 800 I remember.
And we only had 1 emporium stop, but it was air conditioned, so a blessed relief.
The guide was great, if completely ignorant, but pleasant.
He knew a really good cheap place for good ice cream. A pleasant day really, and they fended the touts off for us as well, most of them anyway.

I preferred FS over the Agra Fort a lot. Didn't find any touts inside so it was a great experience. Outside it was a little thick but my boy's nai chaihiyes were enough. Inside the mosque it was thick as molasses and I could have skipped that. The Baby Taj is good indeed. Next time I will spend more time on the small monuments in Agra..
