Agra Fatehpur sikri in one day
Hi all,
I am planning to visit Agra and Fatehpur sikri in one day. I'll reach agra in Shatabdi at approx 8.15 am. Then hire a cab for agra sightseeing and fatehpur sikri. And then return to Delhi by Shatabdi from Agra station leaving at 8.30. Is it possible to cover agra sightseeing and fatehpur in one day as just I mentioned? If yes, what will the cab cost to me for this journey? Also please suggest me from where to hire a cab for the same. Thanks, Mihir |

Yes, I think its possible, provided you reach Agra on time. Fatehpur Sikiri is some 35 km from Agra, which would take about an hour in a cab, if not less. 3-4 hours would be a decent enpugh time for Fatehpur Sikri. Come back to Agra for Taj mahal. Spend your time till evening. I think you'll have good amount of time in hand to catch your trian. I, though, dont think you can accomodate Agra fort in the same trip. That would be a little chellenging.
I am not too sure about the cabs, but I think, like most other Indian cities, you'll have them in plenty near the Rail station. Regards, Sagarneel. |

At the prepaid booth itself there is Shatabdi to Shatabdi tour. If I remember correctly two years back it was around 1700 rupees but I might be wrong. Here is my day trip to Agra experience.

As Mridula has told you...At agra station itself you'll have many cabs offering you Morning-Evening tour.
You can cover Taj Mahal, Red Fort & Fatehpur in this Shatabdi-Shatabdi tour...... Most of the tourists do it this way.....

If do realise it would be better to be in Agra during the afternoon for catching the train, but arriving at Agra at 0815, I'd prefer to go to the TM first. There will be a far shorter queue at that time. If you return later, you'll be queuing at midday for what could be literally hours , though possibly there are less visitors this time of year.
In contrast, at Fatehpur Sikri, there was no queue whatsoever.

I read your replies. They are good and to the point. Please suggest to me on the following. I am reaching Agra on May 24th at 3.45 pm. from Jaipur with my family. We want to spent another three days there in Agra. We take GT Exp on 27 at night to TN. Can you please suggest to make use of these days fruitfully. Is advisable to stay in Fatepursikri for a day? Thanks. ![]() |

Dear Oraja, In Agra you may visit Taj, Agra Fort, Aitmad-ud-daulah, Akbar's Mausoleum, Chini ka roza and Dayal Bagh. One day you can go for Fatehpur Sikri. You may stay at Fatehpur Sikri, but it's mainly a day trip destination.
In Agra do not miss Dayal Bagh, it has beautiful marble carvings.... Quote:

Thanks a lot Delhiwala
I will follow your advice. I will allot one day to Fatepur and get back to Agra for our halt. Just one more question. Since I have enough time is it possible to get to these places on foot leisurely? Or is it a must to get some mode of conveyance? Thanks. ![]() |
