Las Vegas Meetups

I'll be in Las Vegas next week (10-14 June) -- does anyone want to get together?

Wouldn't mind except I'll be in Adelaide.

Did you know that the tourists and visiting workers outnumber the residents in Las Vegas by 19 to 1?

Yes, that sounds about right, even though Las Vegas has been adding new residents at the rate of about 1000 per month for a couple of years now.

There are more hotel rooms than ever, and nearly always full.

I'll be staying at a new hotel/casino/resort, the South Point. They offer 350 sq. ft rooms (that's half the siae of my flat!) with huge flat-screen TVs, and the hotel has a bowling alley, 12 cinema screens, and an equestrian center. Oh, and my room will cost around $65/night. Not bad for an American Hotel.

Well, it would be nice if we had some IM members there and if they wanted to meet ...

Vegas has become too expensive for my taste. Room rates along the strip during the weekends are ridiculous all summer long.

BTW, I wonder how they measured the 19:1 visitor to resident ratio. They must have counted all visitors who fly in and out of Vegas throughout out the year v. residents. However, at any given time , I doubt if visitors outnumber residents in that magnitude.

Thanks for the good wishes. I always manage to have a good time, despite being in classes from 8am to 5pm. I have a few friends there, so there's always someone to play with.

The possibility is high. Vegas is a huge tourist destination both within the US and outside. They always have something going on, whether it is UFC, bodybuilding to Poker Tournament.

wwusa has found a Vegas spot with a great price! OK, wwusa, is it a shared bathroom? Lets get the real low down on those amenities! Can you pee in the sink or not!

BTW...In the US, Vegas has become the fun spot for many of all ages, all inclinations, anywhere you come from, all prices....

I rather like how the Vegas city/state government promotes this "worldly" , cultural diversity "sensitivity", as strange as it seems. Really...you can find any so-called "sense-pleasure" in the world, and they will likely speak your language or find someone who can in just a few moments!!!

I will throw out my idea of an ideal meet-up...anyone passing through Vegas from anywhere, anytime........ask us all to meet-up at the $1 a hand, blackjack table on Freemont St at 1 am.

OK farenghis, goras, whatever you call yourselves,

I throw down the glove!

S

So, Sita, does that mean I'll see you there next week? That would be fun, eh?

No shared bath ... so I won't have to pee in the sink! Yippee!

Have a look: http://www.southpointcasino.com/hotel/guest-rooms.php

Well, let's try this again ... I'll be in Las Vegas again next week, and planning to meet Canada Paul on 23 May, at the Flamingo at 6pm. If you're going to be around, please meet us there!

Well, sorry that nobody else could make it, but Canada Paul and I had a real nice talk about old days in India!

I will upload the photo as soon as I can figure out how to make it a tad smaller ...
