Seniors' Discounts ?
Are there any domestic airlines that offer seniors' discounts to non-resident foreign nationals?
Last year I was happy to receive a discount on railway travel and expect to have passed 65 when I next visit India. |

Actually most airlines offer discounts to senior citizens, students, sports persons, handicapped .. etc ... however all these have lost meaning simply because these discounts are avialable only on full fare tickets.
most tickets that you would buy are probably 1 third the cost a full fare ticket... so u would rather go in for the cheap ticket .. rather than a discounted full fare ticket. also it involves a lot of paper work which is a hassle. |

Chennai, Hydrebad & Bangalore are the only southern cities to which you can get direct flights (i think)
However you can get a direct flight to almost anywhere in India from Mumbai. Also the flights will be considerably cheaper if you fly from there... so its worth the hassle of taking a bus / train / taxi to mumbai to fly out. Try these websites - you can buy ticket of all destinations on most airlines from these yatra.com ezeego1.com makemytrip.com cleartrip.com |

And Goa (Indian Airlines) if the following website is correct.
Direct destinations from an airport. (OAG) Try http://www.ixigo.com/ to look for connections. Pune - Cochin will likely be via Bangalore, and to get to ooty, maybe a flight to Bangalore then a bus.

Discounts
Many thanks to shashank and Oyar for their fares advice.
Once I reach India I'm glad to be able to move on at short notice. Indian Railways have a marvellous network and good booking facilities but sometimes I've wanted to move a long way quickly eg from Chennai to Mumbai. Are there domestic airlines that usually offer cheap tickets on a walk-up basis ie without booking days or weeks ahead or requiring bidding on an internet auction? |

if u search properly .. yes you can get pretty cheap fares even 4-5 hours before. but it depends on the route .. if its holiday season or not & day of week.
TIP - you can get a pretty cheap fare for jet airways .. chennai to mumbai .. on the afternoon flights. |

Hi!
Does anyone know if there is a difference in fare rates on Jetlite or IndianAirlines regarding foreigners/NRIs versus residents? |

The only airline I've found that has flights from Hyderabad to Shillong is Kingfisher, but whenever I try to book a flight, it always indicates that their are no seats available or there is no connectivity to the airline. Anybody out there have any luch flying between those two cities?
