Where is this? Looks like a major city with such an empty beach.

this is varnasi. city itself is huge and crowded. we were on a patch of land in the middle of the river ganga.

Amyl: Don't say something against a place before you even visit it!!! I think it may be really dirty in some parts but the pleasure of just being there (and nearby Sarnath) is amazing. It is a mixture of the good and the bad and the beautiful and the ugly all rolled into one, very worthy of at least one visit if not more!!! Loved to visit the place for the river boat trip during arti in the evenings as well as watching the sunrise in the morning from the river banks as well as the burning ghats with all the sorrow of death and birth of a new day tomorrow makes it a wonderful experience not worth missing.
