A Very Red Butterfly
By Nick-H on Sep 18, 2008. Gallery: nick-h's photos.
At a nursery (plants, not children) today, we saw quite a number of beautiful butterflies, including several ones I never saw before.
This was the only one that was happy to pose for my cameraphone

snonymous says: Excellent image from a phone! Thats a Pachliopta, not sure whether P. hector or P. Aristolochiae, aka Crimson Rose / Malabar rose or something like that. The Common Mormon [female] mimics this one, but you can tell the difference by the body colour. This one is red whereas the Common Mormon body is black.

Nick-H says: It's an N82 with. I think, a 5M-pixel camera.
It is good at macro, from a few inches away, and at photographing anything close by, but not at anything much further, or at challeng (eg backlit) exposures. It is also slow, taking a couple of seconds to focus.
Whist I would compare it negatively with my Canon S2-IS, the reason that I bought it is to have a camera in my pocket on a regular basis. The larger Canon almost never gets taken out on the offchance.
Anyway, it's the first and only expensive phone I've ever had, so it has to put in sveral years of service to pay for itself
Oh... it does GPS navigation too, which is neat :)
