Madikeri, Dawn homestay

Dawn homestay, Powerhouse Rd., Madikeri, Coorg, Karnataka. A fine place ran by the most loving of people, I paid some Rs. 300 for a simple but spotless and cosy little two-bed room to myself here in early 2009. Besides these rooms in the main house, there are one or two self-contained bungalows on the premises.
In order, lounge & TV area in the main house; entrance to my room, adjoining it; amaranth and some other unidentified garden flowers; Anoop & mom; Anoop, mom again.
Anoop who used to run the place, and described as an "eco warrior" in Lonely Planet back then (and it was confirmed to me locally that indeed he was), sadly met with a motorcycle accident in late 2008, and as a result was now suffering from severe amnesia. Plans were afoot to organize more drastic treatment, but with costs and distances involved (plus uncertain outcome)...
His mother and brother were now running the place, and I can't say if they're open still, it seemed to be getting a little much on esp. the sweet old mom.
