Courtyard -Raja Mahal

Construction of the Raja Mahal was started by Raja Rudra Pratap (founder of Orchha in the early 16th century) but was left incomplete when he died in 1531.
His son, Bharti Chand, took over the construction but could not complete the building during his lifetime either. Raja Mahal was finally completed by Madhukar Shah.
The palace is in the shape of a perfect square, however, divided into two courtyards.
