Rajesh makes you feel very welcome - especially if you've paid to go on one of his camel treks in the Thar Desert (they are dirt cheap!). His wife does some nice cooking if you're hungry. Slightly eccentric. Liked: rum. Disliked: 5th glass of rum. Big en-suite rooms - hot water. TV. Free rum in the evenings when I was there - too much of it for me!

Guest house okay, Safari not okay
on May 21, 2012.
The guest house is nice, with hot water and clean rooms.
The safari was disappointing. I booked a 2 days/2 nights safari to experience a little bit the desert way of living. However, after the first night, we walked out of the desert, we passed a railway and we walked a little part on a "highway" (big road)! When I told the ... read more »
One of the best home to stay in Bikaner
It is like living with good relatives who takes care of your stay and food. The place is extremely inexpansive. Mr. Vijay Singh, the camel man and his wife are very loving people. He would insist you for camel safari because that is his bread and butter and further down it is the bread & butter for villagers of Raisar who are ... read more »

Whilst the rooms were simple, they were very large, well furnished and provided all required facilities (including a good supply of hot water). Our double was only 600Rs with seperate western bathroom, hot water and ... read more »

John and I had an excellent stay at Vijay's for four nights. He arranged our ride to Karni Mata, assembled a great camel safari & dinner, made dinner reservations for us at Lalgarh Palace, drove us to see the memorial chhatris as the cremation ground, then took us across the street to a much neglected, forgotten temple ... read more »

Whilst I totally agree with Bolebridge's posting about Vijay's Guest House I think it is worth stressing again how hospitable Vijay is to his guests. After staying there for 5 days I really felt that he had extended membership of his family, not just offered a room with hot water. Of course some people might find this a little ... read more »

Hi I see some posts on this Board about Vijays Guest House in Bikaner - it sounds great. However, I have tried to email this person using the email address on his site, and haven't received any response.
Has anyone been there lately? Maybe it's closed? Or maybe it's just India?

Vijay Ji is alive and well and graciously entertaining all of his guests. My contact with him was the highlight of my trip. The camel safari was stupendous complete with musicians.
