I stayed here for a week in marck 2012.
I didnt know it was a shared bathroom and I had the Delhi belly(UGH)
but I guess thats not their fault.....be sure to make sure you book a room with a bathroom if thats important to you.food is ok,but pricey and they charge to much for booking taxis and trains.The only way to get there ... read more »

I stayed in room 7 at 1000rs in February 2012. I chose it because of it's high ratings and the promise of a great location one banks of the Ganges. It lived up to all of my expectations. This hotel is located on the chausatti ghat and famous dossasomedh ghat can be reach in 5 mins by Ganga ghat. But you have to walk 10 mins by narrow lanes from the main road to reach the hotel. The view is the best thing about this hotel - bang on the Ganga it is heavenly to watch life stream by.
Something does not seem right ; two bathrooms only, a sign on the wall of the hotel ( on the Ganges side) that says it was a widows old age home ( see photographs).
Food is acceptable but pricey.

4 of us stayed at the Ganpati in March. We freaked when we realized there were only 2 Bathrooms (so, 2 showers) for about 40 rooms.
