The one and only time I got sick from food in India was when I had thali at Spice Village. Nice peaceful setting- yes, but food hygienic: thumbs down. Ironically it cost some 500 Rupies plus tips, 3-10 times more than at any place I enjoyed tasty and FRESHLY prepared food. In low season I recommend to avoid this place and head ... read more »

The resort is located in the midst of 55 acres of plantations, mainly cardamom. We stayed for two nights in this resort in November 2008 in a superb atomsphere. The staff were friendly and helpful. Had to wait for 35 minutes for room, more over the management is least bother to come & speak to the guest for that, Instead gave a very hard a& tough looks at check out time. Worst Taj property ever stayed... Should't be part of Taj!!!!! ... read more »

The Periyar House is an excellent modestly priced hotel within the sanctuary. If you are a nature lover, staying inside a reserve forest makes a world of difference.
