Great archietecture and character, has a beautiful garden also.Neat and clean rooms. Situated adjacent to the Howrah train station, the best in its class family hotel. Oldest in Howrah and one of the oldest hotels of Calcutta. Wide variety of rooms for everyone, safe and economical. Centrally located, helpful staff.Walking distance from bus stand, steamer service, and train station.Good food. Open 24 hours though the gates close by 10:30 P.M. Three of us stayed there two nights in Feb 2007. I had booked it in advance, then read Floodlights's review the day before we were to leave the US and got seriously worried--my friends were going to India for the first time and what was I getting them into? As I have stayed there couple of times and would be staying there again, that is why to write to you...albeit again that there could be some wrong feeling (could be could'nt be !?!). Its a personal decision.
