Heavenly
Overall:
Location:
Staff:
Cleanliness:
Positives: The food, the beach, peaceful
Negatives: Might get a bit intimate
Stayed here in November 2009, two weeks.
The owner and staff are very nice, Kurian will help you with all your problems - and he speaks very good english.
Our room was nice, pretty good size, with mosquito nets allready there,as well as around the windows. Fan in the ceiling, no ac. It could get pretty hot. Bug common hall, where the meals are had (included in the price). You can have the breakfast pretty much when you want, but the lunch and dinner time is more specific. But the food must be among the best in India - seafood and fish pretty much every day. We had an enormous craving for meat the last days.
It is very close to the beach, which is very much deserted except from some peaceful fishermen and some random not so peaceful kids (mostly weekeends). We had some amazing days on that beach. It takes about 30 mins into Kannur, Kurian will arrange an auto for about 150 rs. He will also take care of all kinds of train, bus or plane tickets (reasonable agent commision).
You eat your meals with the other guests, and we met some really nice fellow travelers here. I guess you might be unlucky when it comes to fellow guests without social antennas, but don't let that stop you.
I will definetely come back here if I return to Kerala.
