Lemon Tree - Best sleep I had this year
Overall:
Location:
Staff:
Cleanliness:
Positives: Good looks, great beds, friendly staff
Negatives: Bar not attractive, food experience was mixed
We stayed in the Lemon Tree hotel in April 2009. Overall I liked it very much. The hotel is nicely decorated (it is fairly new), the rooms looked very nice and everything was clean. The staff were friendly and helpfull.
If you visit, ask one of the guys working there why they all wear a pony tail. Apparently it is mandatory for the males working in the hotel. But, there is a nice story behind that.
The bar played loud & bad music. Overall it wasn't a place we'd enjoy a beer at night unfortunately. The food in the restaurant was bland and not of high quality. Perhaps we were unlucky, but it tasted like it had all spices reduced to accomodate spice-fearing guests. Later during our stay the sales manager informed us that we could have asked for the food to be made originally, to Indian taste. In fact, he even ordered butter chicken for us to tast as well as some pasta. I must say that the stuff he had ordered was much better than we had exprienced the night before.
The breakfast buffet was fine, we enjoyed that. The restaurant has placemats with a huge collection of jokes and funny stories/pictures. Cheesy as it may sound, we had a few laughs and switched placemats quite a few time during breakfast and dinner.
The hotel has a huge pool and nice lawn with trees. So relaxing outside your room was wonderful.
The bed's in this hotel have very good matrasses. In fact so good that I can honestly not remember sleeping better than I did in this hotel. Wow. I was very impressed. The sales manager informed us that they had specifically picked these matrasses and invested in hi quality. Well, good choice!
One of the nicest aspects of our stay was the fact that we had very nice contact with some of the staff. The spa manager and the Lemon Tree sales manager met with us outside on the lawn to relax and socialize. We had some time to kill between checkout and going to the airport. The hotel let us use the room as long as we needed, so that we could use the pool and keep our things there.
The hotel is not cheap, but value for money is very good. For our weekend trip to Aurangabad (Ajanta/Elora) it was a great choice because we could really relax and be comfortable between all the sight seeing.
I highly recommend this hotel!
(the hotel does not accept American Express cards .. a minor flaw only)
