Not a good choice
Overall:
Location:
Staff:
Cleanliness:
Positives: Historic property
Negatives: run down, expensive food
With so many choices in Amritsar, the only reason to choose this hotel would be to stay at a Raj-era building. It was "the" place to stay in the '60's and '70's but I'm afraid, no longer. The "set meal" for our group was 400 rupees per person, way too high for this level of property. Some rooms may be nice, but don't stay in the rooms by the garages - these may have been former rooms for the help, and it shows. Mrs.Bhandari's daughter now runs the hotel and she is a very friendly and charming person. It will take a lot to bring this hotel up to the level of the "old days."
