Ginger Hotel - a good medium budget choice

Positives: Spotless room/bathroom
Negatives: No room service

In mid July I stayed at Ginger Hotel for a day whilst in transit from Landour to Jaisalmer. My train got into Old Delhi, but it was cheap enough by auto rickshaw from there to the Hotel near Ajmeri Gate, New Delhi railway station area.

For 999 rupees, I got an immaculately clean, near new room with good air conditioning, a TV, desktop where I could put my computer, adequate storage areas and excellent bathroom with good shower. Furniture was modern, new and in good condition

To save on costs, the Tata group which run this chain of budget hotels, have cut down on room servicing. there are plenty of trolleys for you to push your luggage into the lift and out and along to your room. So no help with luggage.

There is no food service to the room - instead you visit the restaurant on the ground floor, collect what you want and take it up there with you. Or else stay in the restaurant (quite a pleasant atmosphere) and eat it there.

Many of the items on the menu are unavailable. I had a stale jam toast for breakfast, and probably the worst one I have ever had. However, coffee, and an ice cream later were fine. Others tucking into paratha, idlis etc. seemed to be enjoying them, with no complaints so I guess if that is what you want for breakfast you will enjoy it!

The location is good and handy for setting out anywhere in Delhi - taxis and autos are within easy calling reach. Inside your room it is exceptionally quiet, so whilst I didn't sleep there, I have no doubt I would have had an undisturbed sleep if I had. I would certainly stay there again.

Whilst I have no photos here is a link to its location:
