Positives: Superb location, great food and fantasic host
Negatives: You will have to eventually leave

My wife and I stayed here March 2009 and think this is the sort of place you don't really want to tell people about, as you want to keep it as a secret special place, all for yourelves. But then again we would never have found it if others hadn't mentioned it.

It is located midway between Thalissery (Tellicherry) and Kannur, at the beginning of a 3.5km stretch of pristine deserted beach. Our host, Hyacinth, was one of the nicest people we met all trip (and we met a lot of nice people). We had the whole top floor to ourselves which consisted of two bedrooms with upright fans, bathroom with hot water, fridge, tv in a lounge area with comfy chairs and a large balcony with chairs, overlooking the beach and ocean. It cost 1,500 rupees per night including breakfast, filtered water and all the laundry you could find! Oh, and if you wanted Kingfisher or Sand Piper, that also appeared in the fridge, for 75 rupees!!

The food was possibly some of the best we had all trip, all cooked fresh, to whatever style you like and to whatever time you wanted it. You will never feel hungry here.

Wi-fi and reasonable use of internet was free and dinner at night was about 100 rupees each for more than you could comfortably eat!!

But the best part is the location. You are just steps away from the sand and sea and the sunsets are great.

This is the place for those who like peace and quiet, away from the usual tourist route. If this is the thing for you then you will kick yourself for not staying here.
