Positives: Clean, staff friendly and helpful, close to ghats, great view of the river (from rooftop and if you have a balcony), breakfast is good. Helpful with organising transport and boat ride

Good place, clean, close to ghats,good breakfast (cooked by nice kids), owner helpful with directions to get there (from Sonaupura crossing, it's a maze, he will send you a boy (literally a little boy) to pick you up to take you there.
We paid for a double room with balcony (had tv also) and an extra 100Rs for a small fan heater (?!)- only one power socket in room. Backup generator wasn't connected to that one. Was nice, roomy, good view.
Only thing i felt uncomfortable with was the way owner always pushed for things like boat rides, rickshaw tours etc (he prob inflates it a bit) rather than suggesting where to go for rides, rickshaws. Which is helpful if you want to have it done for you. Maybe I just don't like blatant profiteering.
As 2 girls we did things together, but did meet a girl travelling on her own - perhaps if you are on your own - make friends with others to split the cost of things, as owner might not think to suggest this.
Avoid Sarnath during 11.30-1.30pm - it's all closed! so we missed out.
Pushed the muslim silk factory- I bought stuff, but it is prob a bit more expensive ( due to commission). But salesman really pushed my friend to buy something....
