The hotel is centrally located within the city, so we could walk to the fort and the shopping areas - that was one good point about the hotel.
But central location also meant dirty surroundings. Jodhpur is a very dirty city, with litter thown everywhere. People have no concern about the environment - that always gets to me.

A peaceful guesthouse on the other side of the river in Virapur Gadde. To get to and from Hampi you need to take a boat for Rs10. It goes every 15 minutes or so, but stops at sunset so you can't linger in Hampi after dark.

OK, this is a short review to see if I can add a review - we paid INR 900 per day for a non-AC room ( AC equiped though, so I suppose I could have just got them to switch it on and paid up the extra INR 300/day ).

If you're looking to stay for longer than a month, then I suggest you try the Himachal Cottage Villa.
It's reasonable, and works out to just Rs. 500 a day, and much less, if you're staying for longer.
It has a fully-functional self-catering kitchen, two cosy bedrooms, washing machine, parking space etc.

Paid Rs. 400 for a double-bed room. Extra Rs.100 for a room-heater
Only a couple of rooms had windows - the rest were stuffy.
Not clean - rooms are cramped.
If you're staying here, try and get the front-facing rooms which have windows. Else give it a miss, pay a little more and head to the RajMahal ... read more »

Javid and Showkat - the Kashmiri brothers who own the place are very friendly and make delicious food.
The rooms are simple, clean and well-ventilated.
They have a TV, a balcony, and a geyser.
A room-heater is provided for Rs.50 extra(per day).

We enjoyed our stay at the KTDC hotel in November of 2008. While it isn't right in the central tourist area of Hampi, that was a plus for us. One can easily catch a cheap bus into Hampi town, ride a rental bike, or take an auto rickshaw for around 50 Rps.
