We had a wonderful 3 days stay at l'Orient in Sept. '04. The place - neetly and thoughtfully restaured to it's original - is simply wonderful! Staff is very pleasant, serviceminded and helpful. The bright, spotless room, the antique furniture and the huge private terrace was a dream. The courtyard with flowers and trees was beautiful.
The three-men band struggling to imitate western 70/80's hits in the evening was SO misplaced it was almost charming :rolleyes:
Barock string music or something alike would have added value to the "mystical" atmosphere.
Waiters were untrained but very friendly and eagering to please. Food was below the standard one should expect at such a fantastic place, - boring and not much to choose from.
Despite a couple of minuses, our stay at L'Orient was superb. An excellent pick for my (surprised) boyfriends birthday! :)
