I'm staying here right now and...
Overall:
Staff:
Positives: Friendly owners, comfortable rooms, incredible views, good cheap food.
Negatives: None
I'm staying here right now and agree with everyone above - it's a really great guesthouse.
My room is really nice, wood-panelled with a great view down the valley - they must have invested in some new mattresses as my bed is one of the comfiest I've ever had in India: a very rare thing indeed. I'm paying Rs. 250 for a double room with attached bathroom. Hot showers are available for two hours in the evening.
Food in the restaurant is great and the family that run the place are friendly and helpful. Jalindhra (sp?) the owner is a mine of information on trekking. He's an interesting guy: an ex-Gurkha infantryman with great tales to tell about his service in Brunei and an impressive collection of medals.
The real selling-point of the Aliment is the view from the roof-terrace. If weather's good, you've got to get up there to watch dawn over Kanchenjunga: it's absolutely mind-blowing.
One of the best guesthouses I've stayed in.
