My wife and I stayed at Umaid Bhawan...
Overall:
Staff:
Positives: Friendly service, decent food, spacious rooms.
Negatives: None.
My wife and I stayed at Umaid Bhawan in Jaipur in Nov. 2005, and it was our favorite hotel during our entire trip in India. This is not a luxury hotel, but it's got everything you need at a reasonable price: excellent service, good food, spacious rooms, hot water, and Western-style toilets.
The hotel is in a suburb of Jaipur, a little off the beaten path. But after staying at luxury hotels in Delhi and Agra on busy roads, we loved the quiet and laid-back atmosphere at Umaid Bhawan. Wish we could have stayed for a week!
