[B]Loved this place
Loved this place....
Just got back from a four night stay at Killa Bhawan and loved it. Slight correction to the above info...they do have two rooms which each have their own bathrooms, a few more rps for those. I emailed Bharat AKA "Mr. India" several months ahead and reserved one of these rooms with a bathroom (located in a turret of the fort off to the side of the main gate).
Breakfast is included and tasty. Nice rooftop area to sit around in. Great chai. Friendly staff. Remember January is really cold if you plan to stay at this time. Bring your woolens, socks, and heavy scarves. Electric heaters that were provided took the edge off.
From my brief survey of Jaisalmer, there are limited places to stay in this price range, and as far as I can tell, the only choice for a place with some real style and atmosphere that is close to the center of town. Try eating out at Trio restaraunt in the town area...puka but good value and very tasty for the rps. For a real down home experince, get the rajasthani thali at Vyas Meals inside the fort. Food prepared by an older couple in their own home...help out and go down the stairs to grab your own thali tray! They are also known for their own recipe for masala tea which they can sell you. It is truly as envigorating as adverised.
