Never go to Jaipur without staying there
I will even say that it should be illegal to go to India without staying a couple of days with Mahendra & Lily (and their sons if they are there).
We mailed them from home (Denmark), and they were very helpful finding a car/driver to meet us at the train station in Udaipur and could also book hotels for us in Udaipur & Jodhpur.
My wife thought she would check out the Indian system of transporting valuables across Rajasthan so she "decided" to leave some rings in our hotel room in Udaipur (well - I should defend her a bit - she was having a mild attack of delhi-belly).
Mahendra helped us to get them up from Udaipur to Jaipur and my wife was SO pleased when she got the rings back.
And our driver - Mr. Singh - was also very helpful on the drive in and around Udaipur/Jodhpur and on the roads Udaipur-Ranakpur-Jodhpur-Jaipur.
And Lily arranged that my nearly 5 years old daughter could have some non-spicy dishes for dinner.
www.jasvilas.com comes with our very best recomendations and should suit you even if you are normally in the more luxurious end and should be the best splurge for you if you normally travel in the more cheaper end.
Ole Sų.
