Just felt I had to put something up because of the level of service they proffered us. Although we didn't get to stay here (it was over the Christmas Period and all booked up), we ate there for 4 out of the 5 nights we were in Madurai. The Staff are friendly and very talkative, our New Years Celebrations were there and they made us feel more than welcome. To repeat again. Excellent food at excellent prices. and they serve beer too! (Which is not a common occurance in Madurai). All methinks Residency Hotel Madurai Rates and Room Information

I checked into the Madurai Residency late one night and checked out the next morning. Marret Street on which the hotel is located is a mess; the room was dark and poorly maintained; the shower was a joke; and the restaurant was inferior both in food and in service. (Lonely Planet, incidentally, identifies Marret as 'Market' ... read more »
