Great service. Great huge oom (we splurged and took the Maharani suite). Nicely appointed. Great view. Marble bathroom. Breakfast included. Quiet. Good restaurant.

In October 2007, it was a season with plenty of little black insects, harmless, but billons of them as soon as the sun sets.
Sri Mahant was a place without, 'cose they have red light on the terrasse which they don't like :)

Spend 2 nights at Nov 2009. Rooms are simple, but clean and have hot water and cable TV. Location is very central and a common balcony let you watch everydays life. If you book Betwa Retreat - be specific if you want a cottage (stand-alone building) or a tent. I was with a group and was assigned a tent and didn't enjoy it -- very noisy, too easy for bugs to enter and I didn't feel safe. We stayed there in February 2009. It is new hotel 5 minutes outside the centre in the direction of the Laxmi temple.
For 700 rs we had a reasonable sized room on the first floor with a small balcony. A large bathroom with 24 hours hot water, good chairs but no closets.

This is the best place I've stayed at in India, the owner Deendayal is so honest with such a good heart, he arranged very cheap accomodation for me in Khajuraho, then called to make sure I got there OK.
Every morning he would knock on my door with a cup of chai and some breakfast, and he also has a sweet shop with yummy lollies.
