Maria Lodge Mumbai (Bombay)
Grants building on Arthur Bunder Rd.
Maria Lodge. (Near Radio club, Colaba). sorry, can't find the phonenumber. room with double bed, aircon, shower, tv (60 channels+). 500R. perfect location. best you can get. (wanned to keep it for myself but heck, you're all friends now ;). ps. if you're in front of it, and see some boys opposite of the street sitting there next to one of the shops, ask em to bring you up so they get some commission of your 500R, and you have a new friend ;) - they are nice boys and can show you around the place if you're in for that too. ---- if you print a picture out of mahender from my photo gallery, they are his friends (or deffinately know him, which will get your feet in the door;). have a great time. would love to hear from anyone who followed my advise!.

Place closed down
When looking for this place in early 2009, I was told it had closed down, and I couldn't find it indeed. There didn't seem to be any indication of it being set to open again.
Kindly disregard my ratings here, as they obviously don't apply since I consequently never stayed there. They are mandatory to add this comment however. ... read more »
Maria Lodge Colaba
on Aug 12, 2008.
I've stayed there on a number of occasions 2007 and early 2008. Its bare bones with your own shower and shared squat toilets that are at one end of the hall. I made friends with the manager and the hotel boys who where all seasonal workers from Kerala. If you feel dingy romanticism and a squat toilet are the cat's meow, then ... read more »

It is difficult to say if i'd recommend it. It was ok at 2am, right after 15hrs flight. There was a bed, and even an indian slyle shower, although no hot water.
However, the owner "did not remember" my reservation made 2 weeks beforehand, and the price grew from 600 to 750 Rs.
The next day we moved to salvation army, ... read more »

on Nov 29, 2005.
I stayed here in 2000. The only problem I had was I called from the airport and was given a quote. When I arrived the price had gone up by about 200R and I was told that this was the correct price and there were not rooms ever available for the price I had been quoted. The next day, as I was getting ready to leave, I was ... read more »
Not-too-grotty budget option in Colaba. 3 floors of double rooms at 450 a night. Windowless rooms that are basic but have their own shower. Massive, fast fan keeps the room cool.
Likes: 450 a night's not too bad for Mumbai. It's handy for Colaba Causeway, Gateway To India etc. Friendly, helpful staff. Recommended me a great ... read more »

I stayed here in March '03 and agree it is OK for a bare-bones guest house. Smallish room with good bed, clean linen, shower stall (no sink or toilet), adequate facilities down the hall. I paid 400, as I recall, but there were some better rooms. it's easy to miss the entrance -- just a small sign and then a staircase going up ... read more »

I noticed that Kokopelli didn't include address, but I couldn't edit the previous post to add:
It is in the Grants building on Arthur Bunder Rd.
Kamal Mansion, also on Arthur Bunder Rd, has guest houses on three different floors if Maria's is full or doesn't appeal. I've been dragged here by touts in the middle of the night ... read more »
Well, I stayed there September 2003 and have to say although it may be a cheap this place absolutely SUCKS! The rooms were dingy, filthy, and had a nice "I'm in prison feel to them".
Sorry I can't recommend this place at all... ... read more »
