I booked Leela GH in advance and was pleased with my choice from that initial contact. Raju was friendly and helpful with regard to the rickshaw drivers. When we arrive he refused to pay commision to the driver who dropped us off. We had a double room, which was clean, and although small was very bright and at 350rp was good ... read more »

I stayed here in early May 2006, and was very impressed. The owner (Rajeesh) and manager (Raju) are very nice and helpful. The roof top restaurant is a little slow, however I only really ordered lassi, pancakes and chai, and was in no real rush. Raju did ask if I would like some silk, and I ended up at the Muslim silk factory, ... read more »

I was the original poster of this review and pic - I didn't even stay here but I checked it out on my last day in Varanasi because I'd been looking at it from the roof of the overpriced Shiva Ganges Guest House. I wished I had stayed here! I'm glad other people have caught on to it. If I ever return to Varanasi I'll definitely ... read more »

Lovely place and people
We stayed here for 3 nights in september 2004, the hotel was undergoing an extension on the top to make way for another few rooms and a rooftop cafe which should be good.
We arrived with acute food poisoning, the manager and owner were wonderful, looked after us, got a doctor and sorted meds. More ... read more »

We stayed at the end of Oct 04 and were totaly impressed, after 2 months traveling in India I rate this place as great value for money.
We paid 300 rupees for a spotless quiet double room with a fan and private bathroom.
The manager met us from the station, made sure we had everything we needed, was ... read more »

Good guesthouse, costing us rp300 for a double room with a view of the Ganges. Very nice room, and helpful hosts. Definitely eat elsewhere, as the service is VERY slow, and the food ordinary. The owner tries to sell you silk, but is not pushy, and the prices were reasonable. Ring from the train station, as the rickshaws will ... read more »

Good guest house with helpful staff. A new room with a window and a balcony directly over the Ganges, 500Rs. with air cooler. You pay the view more than the ammenities, but it-s worth it. Happy with it. Food excellent for western taste, no chilli not spicy. ... read more »

Looks like a great place - has anyone stayed here more recently than the last posting above?
E-mail or website address would also be really handy if anyone out there happens to know.
