The Kunga Guest House is part of the ever popular Nick's Italian Resturant. There are a handful of rooms attached to the resturant and more rooms off to a building on the side geared more for longer stays (with a small kithen--well it's a sink :)). Best room is probably the Richard Gere suite. This is the spot where Richard and Cindy Crawford slept and also broke the bed :). If you cannot feel the American Gigolo passing through you then I don't know what else to tell you. Tenzin will tell you that "Lemon Curd Pie" is Richards favorite cake from the resturant and he has the pictures to prove it :). Smaller rooms have detached shower and bath. I like the Kunga mainly because the family who owns it are good people and I have stayed there on and off for some years now. Months at a time. The big advantage is that you can just walk out and go straight to the restaurant and either dine inside or outside and enjoy the excellent Italian food. The Italian Lasagna is highly recommended as is the carrot and banana cake. Fresh ground coffee to. Basic guesthouse accomodations. Hard bed, hot shower, and a view overlooking the valley. The larger rooms are pretty spacious. No telephones or tv (a good thing perhaps). Kunga Guest House Mcleod Ganj Rates and Room Information
150-350 Though prices are negotiable and may change according to the season and the amount of tourists in town

I didn't think much of the Italian food, though. It was invariably ... read more »

have to disagree... I had one of the rooms in the adjacent building, downstairs facing away from Bhagsu Road (150 Rs i think). It was very noisy, as there are families and monks living in adjacent buildings watching loud TV until midnight and up at the crack of dawn banging around... my room was very musty smelling and damp ... read more »
