Violet Smith, Grand Dame of Sudder Street presides over the aged Fairlawn hotel, in her family for 75 years. It's not everyone's cup of tea. I stayed in a family room because I wanted the balcony. The room was huge. The beds super hard, I stacked two actresses together plus used extra blankets for padding. The street noise dies down at night but lots of noise from the hallway all night long. Nothing like cricket matches on your eighbors TV at 2 in the morning. ... read more »

Stayed here in late Oct,2011,had a big A/C double room on the ground floor,
Room number 8 towards the back.Reasonably clean with good sized bathroom.
There is a communal fridge in the hallway near reception for guests to use.
