We recently stayed at the Hotel Surya in Varanasi. The room was the best for it's price of all we've stayed at in India. The pool is lovely, but they were filming a movie so we couldn't use it (we weren't forewarned about this so it did spoil our plans for a relaxing stay-in day). This is a very nice hotel away from the ghats. Quiet, good resturant, lawn/sitting area. The only pain in the ass is the autorickshaw out front, they are very bad. I will stay here anytime. ... read more »

I love this place.
The hotel Surya is an oasis in a city of 'swarm'. It is a very large hotel with an upper class resturant and a nice dining facility outdoors. There is even a excellent pool for guests to use. Yes a pool.
