The rooms have balconies facing in different directions, the more expensive ones have a view of the Vivekananda Memorial and Statue, the cheaper ones have a view of the village and coastline. It's a big hotel with several floors. hard to miss. Good: Nice, airy room. The balcony is a great place to sit and let your eyes wander. The restaurant in the courtyard of the hotel has really good food and a nice ambience. Not so good: Loud chanting begins somewhere close to the hotel early every morning. I'm sure this is heard in all the hotels nearby, so it's not Maadhini-specific. Besides, it's not that bad once you get used to it. Cable TV, balcony, bucket hot water, squat toilet. Low season: 300-350 Rs for a double with ocean view, without AC. It's good value.

We stayed here during Divali holidays and it was absolutely filthy. It was the worst place we stayed at during our three week tour. We asked for the bed to be changed because the sheets were dirty, the air con was held together with sticky tape, the bathroom had not been cleaned and mould was growing on the door and walls. An excellent value if slightly 'overused but not yet tired hotel' reliable hotel, the staff are friendly and several look like old retainers and reminded me of scouts at an Oxford college who are eager to please/wanting modest tips because they have a little problem with the bottle ... and need that tiny bit extra.
