This hotel was a last minute choice for us after a late night arrival at Kolkata airport and we just needed somewhere for a few hours sleep and a shower before an early morning departure the next day. Not only was it over-priced ($US100 + tax) but the whole place stank of mildew and indeed there was black mildew marks on the ceilings and walls in the hallways. It purports to be 4-5 star but the only thing 5 star about it is the price. The bar and night club were ok but once again, over-priced. Look elsewhere. This hotel has undergone a renovation a year or two ago and is very livable, but greatly overpriced. Not perfectly clean, but I didn't notice any mildew problems. I would not recommend the pool as I watched them drain it, clean it, and refill it... not a pretty sight.
