Hotel CJ International is a newish establishment which is about as close to the Golden Temple as you can get without actually staying in it. This is a mid-range hotel with facilities to match such as fridge, toiletries, vanity basin, AC, large flatscreen TV etc. The rooms are very clean but I did hear some complaints about the size of the cheaper rooms. Some rooms of this hotel have a view inside the temple complex. If you are going to stay here definitely spend the extra and get a room with a view. Depends on whether you want a suite or normal room - the tariff is on the website. The suite with a view is was 2200 Rupees including breakfast when we weren't happy about the size of our other room.

I have stayed here 3 times over the years, the latest being March 2009. While somewhat expensive, the rooms were clean, and my friend had a great view of the Golden Temple. I booked a room here for 2 nights. Not only had they given my room away i found the hotel staff very rude. They offered me another room but only for 1 night. When i asked to see it i knew immediately that i wasn't staying.
