If you're looking to stay for longer than a month, then I suggest you try the Himachal Cottage Villa.
It's reasonable, and works out to just Rs. 500 a day, and much less, if you're staying for longer.
It has a fully-functional self-catering kitchen, two cosy bedrooms, washing machine, parking space etc.

Paid Rs. 400 for a double-bed room. Extra Rs.100 for a room-heater
Only a couple of rooms had windows - the rest were stuffy.
Not clean - rooms are cramped.
If you're staying here, try and get the front-facing rooms which have windows. Else give it a miss, pay a little more and head to the RajMahal ... read more »

Javid and Showkat - the Kashmiri brothers who own the place are very friendly and make delicious food.
The rooms are simple, clean and well-ventilated.
They have a TV, a balcony, and a geyser.
A room-heater is provided for Rs.50 extra(per day).
